Outline for the knitting Workshop at Woolly Gatherings

     For Beginners, improvers and those who would like to learn how to read patterns
          
          There will be plenty of hand-outs showing techniques (and problem solving!), 
along with a choice of easy-to-follow patterns for children, men and women. 
            
           Week 1:
Overview of yarns & appropriate size needles
Casting on & off
Basic stitches – Knit (Plain) & Purl.  All stitches derive from these two stitches.
Common mistakes made
Knitting a practice piece, using Knit, Purl & Rib
Instructions for a simple project will be given to you to work on at home

If possible, 
please bring 2 sets of needles 1mm difference in size (ie 4mm & 5mm) 
& yarn to practice with.  There will be some needles to share on the day. 
Yarn and needles are also available to buy in the shop.


Week 2:
Review of 1st week & any problems encountered
Increasing & decreasing stitches
Expanding our repertoire of stitches – moss stitch, tier stitches,
Continuing working on last weeks project or start a new one
Each participant can choose a different project –
 ie leg warmers, hats, scarves,  wristwarmers, face-cloths, 
children's sleeveless sweater, simple cardigan etc. 
Patterns can be supplied or different ones bought in the shop.


Week 3:
Review of previous weeks & any problems encountered
Expanding our repertoire of stitches - ridged rib etc.
Joining seams neatly
Continuation of chosen project

WOOLLY GATHERINGS - KNITTING starting Thursday 10th of March 2011


The crochet group will hold its last session on Thursday the 3rd of March. It was great fun and will be repeated later on in the year! Thanks a lot Liz!
The workshops are for anybody who would like to learn, update or refresh the basics of all kinds of crafts, crocheting, knitting, spinning, sewing and lots more.
These workshops will be held regularly every Thursday morning. You can select the craft you would like to learn or update, without commitment to further classes or join all of them ;) 
If you got a craft you would like to share with others, let us know and we can organise a few sessions for you!
Cost: A suggested donation of 5 Euros for the teacher (to cover the costs of time and paper)  and a little Tea/Coffee Donation would be appreciated!
Where: Woolly Gathering Caherhurley, Tuamgraney, Co. Clare

Materials: Wool and needles are available in the shop, but feel free to bring your own!
                 (Needle size 3-5 and DK or Aran weight yarn)

3rd crochet workshop...having lots of fun!

After a very successful start-off, we finally managed to make some pictures! Liz is being a great tutor and everybody is thoroughly enjoying themselves, as you can see! Feel free to join our Thursday sessions from 10am - 12.30pm in Caherhurley for a suggested donation of 5 Euros. Bring your own yarn or have a browse through our shop!
