A little note about who we actually are...

I am very excited about our new blog! I've got so many thoughts and ideas I love to share... but I'm not very much of a writer, I'm afraid. Anyway, seeing that somebody will have to write and Mia is still on holiday... in fact she doesn't know about this, yet ;)... I will try my best.

Below you will find some information about what we are doing and who we are. Because it is already quite late, I allowed myself to a simple copy/paste action from our profiles from our etsy shops.  Cheeky, I know, but I got two kids and they are up at 7 am sharp at present... ;)

About Woolly Wings...

We are two fibre artists who create and teach with natural materials, inspired by myth and nature, especially the magic of the woodlands of County Clare that surround us. We're also inspired by the Steiner Waldorf philosophy of encouraging creative, imaginative play through tactile handmade toys. We are passionate about working with Wool, and exploring its creative possibilities. We create needle felted figures and pictures, which we hope will enrich the nature corner of your home, be displayed as pieces of folk art or used gently as inspiring pieces for storytelling with children.

How Woolly Gathering came to be..

A couple of years ago, myself and an artist friend Mia Foley, discovered the endless possibilities of needle-felting. Since then, that passion has turned into a lifestyle and by now we are teaching felting, selling our own pieces of folk art on Etsy, and due to much demand and many enquiries I decided to open up a wool supplies shop on Etsy. I consider myself very fortunate in my life, to be able to do the three things I love most~ being there for my husband and children, creating and handling wool, and getting my hands dirty with soil to create enchanting gardens for people! Well, as romantic and great it may all sound; it is hard work and not that easy to keep it all running smoothly... but we manage ;)

This is just a simple introduction, but the purpose of this blog is to keep you all updated what we are up to, new fibres and yarns in the shop (just got my first few skeins of beautiful merino/silk/soy fibres done!!! Will soon be listed ;) ) and updates on stunning folk art figures, Nuno Felt & exciting workshops ahead! Hopefully we will squeeze in a good bit of Fibre philosophy, fun and something interesting! Hope to see you again soon!
Best wishes
